Himself and I recently found a service group that we have decided to become a part of. It is called "Team Red, White, and Blue".
"Team RWB’s mission is to enrich the lives of America’s
veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social
activity—our members proudly Wear The Eagle."
We first heard about the Team at the granola trail bar class we took. The class was sponsored by Team RWB.
A few weeks later, we encountered them again at the USO 5K.
They were running...
...and others were cheering runners on.
Then we were invited to a group social - Trivia Night. It was fun. After meeting more people we decided this was something we would enjoy.
Less than a week later it was confirmed to us that indeed this group is definitely something we want to be a part of.
It was let be known to the group that one of our members... a single lady and a Wounded Warrior... was being 'harrassed' (my word) by the city. During a storm a bunch of branches and a few trees came down in her back yard.
It is hard for her to do that sort of clean-up alone in the time they gave her to get it taken care of before they were going to lay down a hefty fine. And it was highway robbery what yard services quoted her to have the job done.
The word was put out to the group (The Eagles) and a work detail was put together.
We cleaned.
We sawed.
We clipped.
And we picked up pine cones! LOL
Yep... the Little Eagles work hard too.
Soon there was the sound of chain saws.
Wheelbarrow after wheelbarrow load was moved.
Bigger stuff was dragged away on a tarp.
Here's the brush pile as we got started.
And here is that pile a couple hours later!
It was a evening of focused work and the yard was done.
Good job Eagles!
