We returned this year to the open house at South Central Growers. They are a wholesale nursery who once a year are open to the public with their amazing poinsettias.
There is a "photo booth" where you can get a great holiday photograph.
One of my favorite things is the new hybrid poinsettia each year. They have a voting to see what the viewers favorite is.
This year there was an ORANGE poinsettia (one of the workers said it wasn't quite ready and would be fully orange in another week or so).
A very clear white flower (tho I'm sure you know that those aren't really petals).
Pretty pink with white edges.
This one looked like it had been spritzed with pink ink.
This was Himself's favorite.
And this was mine... I like the shape.
This is "Ice Crystal" the favorite of 31% of the viewers.
Then we took a riding tour thru the greenhouses...
Amazing!
Popular this year where the mixed planting pots.
They water the plants either by drip irrigation or by flooding specially built floors.
All of their water is reclaimed from rain. Our tour guide said the issue this year was TOO much rain and the retaining ponds over filled.
This is an event we have really enjoyed both years we've gone.
I wonder what will be new next year?
