Only With The Army...

 The entire US Army medical healthcare system is changing out its method of record keeping, setting appointments, making referrals, and getting prescriptions.

EVERY. SINGLE. THING.

This began in March and was to be "ready" on 3 June.  It is not ready.  But the freaking morons in charge cut off the old system the end of May.

According to the BS Army 'happy note' (aka Army lies) says "thank your patience" and in Teri speak "you are screwed thru at least Aug for anything to do with healthcare".

SO... we have to get a bunch of medical done by the end of Jan 2024 and the Army has effectively FUBARed our schedule...

The Benefits of Repotting

When repotting my new succulents, some dropped leaves with the handling.  When that happens just lay those leaves on TOP of  a bit of soil (I used a large terra Cotta catch dish).

Then ignore them.  Really ignore them... no water, no poking.

In some weeks you might see a cute baby plant growing from a withered leaf; like the one in the 6 o'clock position of the dish.

Or maybe not... but the experiment is free and easy!

 

A Cooling Shirt That Really Works!!

 

My review will focus on a medical reason for buying these shirts.  My husbands cancer treatment included hormone therapy which leaves him with menopause type HOT flashes   Intense miserable hot flashes.  These shirts work very well at cooling him off.  Air circulation (fan, movement) multiples the effect. 

An of course they are fantastic for keeping you cool when working outside, especially when you give yourself a little mist from the hose. 

These shirts are a lovely soft material that is standing up well to constant use and washing.

National Strawberry Picking Day

 While today is the day, we took an early run at getting this year's strawberries.  Saturday before we made our way out to Slate's Strawberry field for some spring time deliciousness.

The strawberry plants are huge!

No picking today as it was just starting to rain when we got there.  The pre-picked (that morning) were just fine.  Those are gallon buckets,,, with a wee bit extra.

Look at these!  This big yet still sweet and not hollow.  Absolutely perfect.

That evening fresh berries went on a chocolate cupcake that Himself baked.

Toasted homemade bread with strawberry jam and mine with cream cheese & macerated strawberries.

You know what?  I think we'll go back this weekend...

Speed Dating

 It is that time of the year... turkey strut season!

They are certainly talking smack at each other!

It is so much fun watching this from our windows.

And Here I Am... Mid May

 Yes, busy again.  Spring finally arrived out here at The Sticks.  So before it turns to summer (which happens way too fast) we have been very busy with outside tasks.

There's been a lot of repairing, cleaning up, hauling off, and brush burning.  Bonsai and the herb garden woke up.  There were a few casualties from that brutal December freeze but not really bad.

As I get things done, there will be things to share.  Everything is a bit piece mill for now.

Adios March

What a month March was!  It came in like a lion… and went out like a mean ole ram!!  it is storming as I write this and a tornado watch for our area has popped up (there is an active tornado several counties west of us).  This is not sparking joy!

But in other news things are much better for us.  We got our full claim for our lost cold foods.  Restocking has begun.

The local HazMat day was mid-month.  We had a full load as we have not made one since 2020.  So good to get that space cleared out.  Found out they are going back to the twice a year format which will really help.  So our garage spring cleaning is done.

Last and BEST news is Himself’s last lab results show improvement with his immune system!! 

So, moving on along…
