Salud! at Whole Foods: Fund Raiser for Wildlife (with recipe)

Our last event at Whole Foods was a fund raiser for a local wildlife rehabilitation center.  Walden’s Puddle is located in Joelton, TN.  Whole Foods donated the catering and space for the event and volunteers came in to serve and clean up afterwards.

There were two guests of honor...

This little screech owl was hit by a car.  She is blind in one eye so she cannot be released back into the wild.

And this is Sheldon the box turtle.  He and three other turtles were from a rescue after his owner died.  Since he had been a house pet for about 40 years he is too used to having dinner delivered to him, so he can’t be released either.

Our menu for the night was vegetarian.  Merijoy prepared a very interesting salad... 

... a winter white salad!  It was delicious!
