Travel Theme: Move (Hungarian Horse Shepherds)

While in Hungary in '03, we visited a place that does demonstrations of the famous Csikos 'horse shepherds' of the Hungarian plains.

From the first moments when the horses came galloping in driven by a whip snapping Csikos, it was all about moving very fast.

The specialty... Roman riding a five-in-hand team.  At a dead gallop.  Around a huge ring.

Once they got the horses moving at a breakneck pace, they just stood up there like they were waiting on a bus or something!

Incredible!

Travel Theme: Grey (And a Trinket Too)

Before my trip to Hungary in 2003, I did some research on what would be some quality things to bring home.  One of the things I discovered was Herend porcelain.   Such beautiful pieces!

So I was delighted to find this lovely dapple grey horse.  He was a pricey trinket but I decided it was worth it to have a quality piece.  I collect horse figures and he is a wonderful addition to my collection.
