Puttin' On The Ritz

On a recent trip to Missouri, “the girls” (Mom, Sis, Little Bird and me) indulged in a girlie day.  We had High Tea at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in St. Louis.

We were seated and our waiter brought out a selection of teas to choose from.  We all wanted “Chinese Rose Petal” by Taylors of Harrogate ( http://www.taylorsofharrogate.co.uk ).  Very nice and quite different.  There was definitely an essence of rose in the flavor.

(Sorry for the grainy photos.  The light was low and I didn’t want to disturb the other guests with my camera flash.)

Soon after we started sipping our tea, our tea meal was brought out.  The variety was very good.

Our sandwiches were ham salad with a prosciutto wrapped asparagus tip, cucumber with dill cream cheese, crab salad with smoked salmon, and in the center egg salad.

The baked goods were cranberry scones, Madeleine’s, and a coconut muffin; served with Devon cream.

And the sweets were a hazelnut crème in tiny biscuit, a mango jelly candy, a strawberry cream cheese tart, a chocolate tart and a lemon curd tart with a baked meringue.

Little Bird loved having treats that were her size.  And the big girls thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon of pampering.

  1. Lucky you! Going to a High Tea is still on my list of things to do.

(Love the top picture, with the elegant china and sippy cup.)
