Good Eats: Buca di Beppo in Nashville, TN

A few days ago we had dinner out with Best Friend and BF’s Sweetie (husband) at an Italian restaurant chain in Nashville called Buca de Beppo. It was different from most restaurants I’ve been too. They serve “family style” and there are 2 sizes – the small one feeds about 3 people and the large feeds around 6 people. That’s great if everyone wants the same thing(s) but not so good if no one can agree.

The other different thing is there is one table that is in the kitchen you can reserve for dinner. Talk about being in the middle of the action!

As each dish came off the line it was “presented” to us before it was carried out. Talk about making it hard to decide what we were going to order!!!

But we finally decided. Here’s what we chose for our dinner (descriptions provided by Buca’s)…

Stuffed mushrooms - tender mushrooms stuffed with prosciutto (Italian ham), cheese, fresh sage and rosemary, baked to golden perfection and served on a bed of pesto cream sauce.

Mozzarella Caprese- vine-ripened tomatoes and fresh mozzarella drizzled with basil olive oil and topped with fresh basil leaves.

Lasagna - nine towering layers of lasagna noodles stuffed with a savory combination of ricotta, mozzarella, provolone and parmesan cheeses with plenty of chunky homemade meat sauce.

Quattro al forno - four of our favorite baked pastas. Enjoy generous portions of cheese manicotti, chicken cannelloni, baked ravioli and stuffed shells.

Colossal brownie sundae - twelve decadent chunks of freshly-baked brownies layered with six scoops of vanilla bean and chocolate gelato, topped with caramel and chocolate sauces then buried in mounds of whipped-cream - and we won’t forget the cherry! (ideal for up to 6)

  2. What a novel idea to have a table in the kitchen. (Or maybe I just don't know about this because we don't get out much.) You're speaking my language with that brownie sundae. ~Lili
