Salud! at Whole Foods: Recipe - Peach and Raspberry Tart

Last Thursday Himself and I worked another class at Whole Foods featuring Chef Dan Maggipinto of Caffe Nonna.  His is (as far as I know) the only class that repeats within the quarter because of the high demand.

(By the way, he said the "Family Time" episode of "Diner, Drive-ins, and Dives" that his show was featured on will be aired on 15 and 18 Aug at 9pm CDT, 23 Aug at 2pm CDT, and 27 Aug at 5:30pm CDT.)

In his Summer In Italy class, he makes one of my favorite desserts.  I could live on this!  So I've decided to share it with you.

Peach and Raspberry Puff Pastry Tart

The open pastries.  (Keep the 'lids' to add to the finished dessert as part of the presentation.)

In the recipe you'll see that a sauce is made with 'NGF Chianti Jelly'.  It is a jelly that Dan makes and markets.  ( http://nonnasgourmetfoods.com/products/chianti-jelly/ )  I can recommend it very highly.  It is delicious!!  But any sort of red wine jelly will work.

Here's the story behind the sauces and jelly he sells through is company "Nonna's Gourmet Foods":

ZOË’S STORY

Thank you for your order from Nonna’s Gourmet Foods. Our marinara and spicy marinara (arrabiata) sauces stem from our award-winning restaurant located in the heart of Nashville, Tennessee and a strong commitment to aid in the fight against childhood illnesses. My daughter, Zoë Marie Maggipinto, was diagnosed with Atypical Teratoid / Rhabdoid Tumor, a rare and aggressive tumor found in the cerebellum and spinal areas of children younger than three years old.

The excellent treatment she received from St. Jude Children’s Hospital has inspired me to continue the fight against AT/RT and other childhood illnesses by creating Nonna’s Gourmet Foods. Through the purchase of our gourmet marinara, spicy marinara (arrabiata) sauces and other gourmet products, you’re also helping children like Zoë. A full 100% of each purchase goes directly to organizations committed to fighting childhood illnesses and will aid in the fight against AT/RT and other life-threatening conditions so that future families might have even more of a fighting chance when their loved ones fall ill.

So while you’re enjoying the great taste of Nonna’s Gourmet Foods, enjoy the fact that you’re also helping to bring about a future where families who need help will receive it.

Thank you for helping us make miracles possible.
